Hastings Hill shops get pavement and parking upgrade
Local Liberal Democrat councillorMargaret Crosby has secured several thousand pounds to repair and resurface pavements and roads around the shops on Sevenoaks Drive in Hastings Hill.
Margaret arranged a meeting with local residents before bringing Sunderland Council staff out to discuss the poor state of repair of paths and roads. As a result repair works will now take place to improve them.
Councillor Margaret Crosby explained: "Local people were fed up with uneven pavements and the poor state of the road outside the shops. I'm delighted that the pavements outside the shops will now be repaired to make them more even, and that the road will be resurfaced in the parking lay-by.
"The Council-owned part of the road leading to the car park behind the shops has already been resurfaced, with dropped kerbs and tactile paving installed at either side of the junction. I'll keep on campaigning to improve our area and to secure funding to fix crumbling roads and pavements wherever possible."
