Save the Fulwell Sainsbury's site for a supermarket
Petition: We the undersigned believe that the former Sainsbury's site on Station Roadshould be kept as a food retail unit to help footfall to other businesses and keep easy access to food shopping for local people. We call on Sunderland City Council to keep the site as a food retail offering.

Malcom Bond at the former Sainsbury's site
Local Lib Dem campaigner Malcolm Bond says: "For generations, Fulwell folk have enjoyed the convenience of a supermarket on the now-closed Sainsbury's site on Station Road.
This site should be preserved for food retail and the Council should consider any application for change of use accordingly. The Sea Road retail outlets are under severe pressure post-covid and our Council should acknowledge that customers are in danger of being drawn away from Sea Road to Morrisons and other more distant supermarket outlets.
This valuable local resource is particularly important for more elderly residents of Fulwell, the disabled, and those who don't have access to a car."
